Integrating an asset takes four phases. None of them depends on significant investment by the client.
Before any contract, we analyse the asset: capacity and technology, grid connection, existing SCADA, available meteorological instrumentation, production history and the contractual arrangements in force.
The assessment produces an indication of what the asset can capture, in which markets, and what is needed to get there. It is a document, not a commitment.
Providing system services requires the asset to be controllable remotely and monitored in real time. In most cases this is resolved with a gateway or RTU installed alongside the existing PPC, with no intervention in the plant.
The unit is submitted to REN and put through the controllability tests required for each service. Qualification is carried out by us, as BSP; the client does not deal with the system operator.
Depending on the size and technology of the asset, qualification may be individual or by aggregation with other assets in the same perimeter.
From go-live, the asset is nominated and offered in each market session, with adjustment through the day. Offer and dispatch decisions are prepared by wattimize and executed by our control centre.
At the end of each month the client receives what was offered in each market, what was activated, the conversion coefficients applied and the corresponding settlement. Market data is public and the calculation can be redone.
Worth being explicit: the arrangements that secure revenue during curtailment presuppose that the asset can be controlled. Where that capability does not exist, the general imbalance regime applies and the asset is represented but cannot provide system services.
For an assessment, tell us the asset and the contractual arrangements in force.
