Grounded in our vision and built on the experience of more than 50 GW of renewable projects developed worldwide, Gesto was one of the first companies to develop merchant solar projects and is today one of the largest renewable developers in Portugal.
Good solar resource, falling technology costs and EU renewable targets transformed the Portuguese market. The national energy strategy targets 80% renewable electricity by 2030, supported by a grid reinforcement programme connecting the generating south to the consuming north.
Gesto has developed some of the largest solar projects in the country, supporting its partners and contributing to the decarbonisation of the economy, to energy independence and to local wealth creation.
For years the work ended when the plant entered service. Today, a renewable plant’s revenue depends on where each quarter-hour is sold. That is the group’s energy management area.
