Control

From schedule to setpoint.

A market decision that never reaches the asset is worth nothing. This page describes the path between one and the other.

Why it matters

Deciding is not enough.

Without the ability to steer the asset, optimisation is confined to whatever was nominated at D−1. There is no adjustment through the day, no provision of system services, and no deemed energy arrangement — because there is no way to curtail by decision.

Control is the precondition for nearly everything else.

The chain

Four steps, in seconds.

  • Decision — market schedule, reserve offered and setpoint, computed by wattimize
  • Transmission — the setpoint travels by API to the Gesto Comercialização control centre
  • Validation and execution — checked against defined operating limits, then sent to the asset
  • Restoration — after each system operator activation, the asset returns to schedule

mFRR and aFRR activations instructed by REN always override the setpoint. No market decision prevails over a system operator instruction.

The separation

Who decides and who executes.

The decision is wattimize’s; execution, records and the response to the operator belong to Gesto Comercialização, the licensed entity. The boundary between the two is the API itself, with validation of operating limits and a suspension capability on the side of whoever answers to the system.

For the client this separation is invisible and irrelevant: there is one counterparty, one contract and one invoice.

The physical connection

Gateway, RTU and telemetry.

In most cases the connection is resolved at the existing PPC, with no intervention in the plant. Installation and SCADA integration are carried out by the group’s engineering arm.

Contact

Preliminary assessment of an asset.

We process the plant’s history, separating the weather effect from the dispatch effect, and quantify the result.
